‘Tis the season to be thankful and to help others.  Volunteer Vacations/Holidays are a way to share our skills to improve the lives of others.

Just look at all the activities available from the Fly for Good website:

Building, teaching, conservation, community development, health work and working with animals are only a few of the categories from which you can contribute.

Plus, you don’t have to travel abroad to do good work. Many programs are US based. For some examples, check out The Daily Green. One great example is the Colorado Trail where each summer volunteer groups organized by the Colorado Trail Foundation set out to remove downed trees, fix signs and markers, educate trail users and generally keep the trails open for everyone to use.

Last August, Fab Placez featured the volunteer vacation, Hands Up Holidays. This organization will customize your volunteer experience. I like the part “you’re never too old to volunteer.”  It’s nice to know that all those skills I’ve spent a life time learning don’t need to sit dormant and unused.  Click here for the link to the Hands Up Holidays website for contact information.

Yes, we can make the world a better place.  Peace on Earth.
