The confluence of the rivers Tauber and Main play a significant role in the lives of the residence. Severe flooding is an ever present event for those who live in the city center. The worst flood took place in 1882.

While we were walking around with our guide, Ursula, one of our group members, Phil, asked Ursula a question:

Phil:  What causes this flooding?

Ursula:  Water!

We all had a good laugh at her dry wit.

On the hill above the town sits the Wertheim Castle. Now, it is only a shell. Visitors can walk up the hill and walk around if they wish.

Stories about Wertheim:

A woman wanted to spy on her neighbors to see what they were doing, but she didn’t want to get caught spying on them. So she asked her husband to build her a small window from which she could do her spying without being seen.

The most narrow house in the town. Starts narrow at the bottom and is cantilevered as it goes up.
