Fishing in Durango, Colorado with Lonnie Malouff, Little Fishes Guide Service, is my nirvana. Lonnie knows where the fish are plus he is a great teacher.

We began our fly fishing experience on the Animas River, which is filled with Rainbows and Browns.

We finished the evening with some delicious fried fish and drinks. What could be better than catching fish and having dinner with good friends.

Bright and early next morning, Lonnie, Bruce and I headed to Lake Navajo to fish for bass. The lake is about an hour’s drive from Durango. We loaded the fishing gear into the boat and off we went to seek bass.

We caught lots of small fish and three nice sized bass.

In the afternoon, a strong wind came up and we called it a day. What a day!

Durango is great for fishing, but it is also a great town for so much more.

Big Cycling Town:

This is the sculpture near the center of town. People put all types of “hats” on the cyclists to depict the current events taking place in Durango.

The Durango cyclists. The hats change depending on what is happening in the town. While we were here the firefighters had been fighting the fire. The people of Durango wanted to say "thank you" for their efforts.

Downtown and lots of super restaurants:

Downtown is Durango’s nerve center. Shops and restaurants line the main street.

Our selection for the evening was Chimayo. I had the best stuffed Pablano Chili in my life. The whole gang enjoyed delicious entrees and wine.

A great group of friends and fishing companions.

Fun was had by all!
