Mining established Red River in 1870, but tourism is what has kept it going. The area has something special for each season: skiing in the winter, fishing in the summer, hiking in the fall, and ziplining in the spring.
The five block area town is chocked full of restaurants, hotels, and shops.

Alpin Lodge
Alpine Lodge is one of many hotels located near the ski hill. It has a chalet decor and offers amenities such as hot tub and dry sauna. Rates are in the low $100’s which makes Red River an affordable get-away destination.
Dining and Nightlife:

Good food ranges from sandwiches, bar-b-que to thick Texas sized steaks. You can’t go wrong regardless of which restaurant or cafe you select. You’ll find friendly service wherever you dine.
Bull O’ the Woods
When the sun sets, it’s time to two-step and have a beer at one of the local saloons. The music is loud and the atmosphere is fun, so don’t hesitate to get those legs working on the dance floor just like you did on the slops.

Numerous shops line Main Street. Be sure to pick-up a new cap or t-shirt. Shops also have art and New Mexico styled jewelry at the Jewelry Lady, 100 W. Main St.

Red River Ski hill was created when Oklahoma businessman Stokes E. Bolton and his wife, Billie, decided that Red River was a great summer resort town but needed a winter attraction. The Red River Ski Area (RRSA) was born. State of the art snow-making assures that the snow making guns can cover 85% of the mountain. So, just because snow hasn’t fallen from the sky, doesn’t mean they aren’t skiing at Red River.

Weezies Wild Rides is self guided UTV tours. Before June 15th grab a 4 or 6 hour rental. Then, after June 15th, 6 hour rentals only. Renters can utilize Goose Lake Trail, Cabresto Lake Trail and Greenie Peak. To make reservations, contact them at weezieswildrides@gmail.com.

Red River is located in the Sangre de Cristo mountains surrounded by Carson National Forest. Distance from larger cities includes Albuquerque (168 miles), Denver (260 miles) and OKC (520 miles). Hope a flight or pack-up the car and come see the nice folks in Red River, NM.
